29k paramedical, nursing seats remain vacant

Ahmedabad: As the admissions process for paramedical and nursing programmes concluded on Nov 30; 29,244 seats remained vacant across govt and private institutions, with private colleges accounting for the majority of them.
For the academic year 2024-25, the admission committee started with 42,489 seats across various programmes, including BSc Nursing, B Physiotherapy, General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM), Auxiliary Nurse and Midwife (ANM), B Occupational Therapy, B Orthotics and Prosthetics, and B Audiology.
According to data released by the admission committee, 13,305 seats were filled during six admission rounds across 896 institutions.
The data further indicated that private colleges had 11,009 unfilled GNM positions, while govt institutions had just 26 vacancies. Similarly, private colleges reported 6,799 vacant ANM seats, compared to mere 41 in govt institutions.
