Mangaluru: Seventeen medical undergraduates from Kasturba Medical College, Mangaluru, have been awarded the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) Short-Term Studentship (STS) grant for 2024.

The STS programme aims to provide research opportunities to undergraduate medical and dental students, helping them develop essential skills in research methodologies, scientific writing, and research ethics early in their careers.

This grant enables students to undertake independent research projects under the guidance of their professors or contribute to ongoing research led by their senior peers or faculty members.

Each selected student will receive a stipend of Rs 60,000 (effective from 2024), paid in three instalments over a six-month research period. Additionally, students will be awarded an e-certificate upon completing their projects, further enhancing their academic and professional credentials.
