Varanasi: The process of creating Ayushman cards for elderly individuals over 70 years old has been ongoing since Nov 4 in the district. On Friday, Varanasi district issued 35,735 Ayushman cards for the elderly, maintaining its top position in the state.

Chief medical officer, Dr Sandeep Chaudhary, stated that Ayushman cardholders can avail themselves of free treatment up to five lakh rupees by getting admitted to any registered hospital under this scheme. The govt is focusing on ensuring health services reach all senior citizens through the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, and thus, Ayushman cards are being issued for those over 70 years old, aiming to provide excellent healthcare to all.

TheCMO mentioned that similar camps will continue to be organised in the coming days to benefit more elderly individuals. Additionally, elderly individuals can now register themselves for Ayushman cards via the Ayushman app or get their cards made through Panchayat assistants, Ayushman Mitras, Jan Seva Kendras, or Ayushman Arogya Mandirs with the help of CHOs, ration dealers, and ASHA workers.
