Vanrai Police, Mumbai, Helps this Rising Playback Singer Find Her Lost Belongings

The singer was in utter shock when she realized that she had left her belongings in the auto-rickshaw.

Smita Rakshit, an upcoming playback singer, is making her way into the film industry. While she wanted to make the headline for her singing, she found herself talking to reporters for a completely different reason.

The singer boarded the morning flight to Mumbai from Kolkata on September 15. She had her usual recordings scheduled over the weekend, and not finding her ride on time, she booked an auto rickshaw. On reaching her destination near Hub Mall, Goregaon East, she hurriedly got out of the vehicle and made her payment through a UPI app. As the singer turned around to reach her apartment, the auto-rickshaw took off. As soon as the auto-rickshaw left, she realized she had not collected her luggage from the auto.

After desperately looking for the auto driver by herself and asking other auto drivers if the vehicle was from the same locality, she reported it to the police.

Vanrai Police Station, located opposite Hub Mall, is known for rapidly solving cases, and this was going to be another one of their masteries.

Half in tears, the singer narrated her ordeal to the police. Assistant Inspector Geetanjali Vasantrao Sanap and her team of Vanrai Police quickly got into action. The police tried retrieving the information through the UPI App, but could not reach the auto driver. The police contacted the Bank and airport authorities for information. They also went through the CCTV footage to find out more about the vehicle.

Within an hour, Vanrai Police was able to trace the auto and the driver.

The auto driver reached the Police Station and handed the singer all her belongings. The speedy work of the police amazed Smita, who later took to her Facebook handle and thanked the Vanrai Police for their prompt action.

The singer wrote:

“Lot of Respect and Salute to @mumbaipolice

Thank you so so much Vanrai Police(Mumbai) for helping me find my lost belongings, and that too within an hour. You are truly doing an amazing job! More people should know about the outstanding job you do day in and day out without expecting even thanks in return. You truly protect us and make us proud.

Special thanks to Geetanjali Vasantrao Sanap (Assistant police Inspector) of Vanrai Police Station, Goregaon East, Mumbai.”

The singer spoke to Airr News about the ordeal and mentioned:

“I had given up all hope. This was my first instance at a police station, and I was unsure about getting my belongings back. My idea of police comes from the movies, so I was uncertain about everything. However, my views have completely changed. Mumbai Police is really working hard around the clock to protect the city-dwellers. They do a thankless job without even thinking about their lives. Now, when I think of it, they have always been the silent protector of the city. Be it the 26/11 attacks or my inconsequential story, the police must be thanked and praised for their hard work and determination. Thank you Vanrai Police. Thank you Mumbai Police.”
