Despite Allu Arjun facing legal issues over the death of a fan during the Pushpa 2: The Rule premiere, the film continues to perform strongly at the box office.
According to Sacnilk.com, the movie, which also stars Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil, has crossed Rs 820 crore in net collections in India.
The website reports that Pushpa 2: The Rule earned around Rs 60 crore net on its second Friday, bringing its 10-day total to about Rs 822.20 crore net in India. The film’s first-week collection was Rs 725.8 crore, including Rs 10.65 crore from its premiere and Rs 164.25 crore on its opening day.The film experienced a drop in collections on its first Friday, earning Rs 93.8 crore, but saw a boost over the weekend, with Rs 119.25 crore on Saturday and Rs 141.05 crore on Sunday. Throughout the week, it made Rs 64.45 crore, Rs 51.55 crore, Rs 43.35 crore, and Rs 37.45 crore. On its second Friday, the film earned Rs 36.4 crore net.
Arjun was arrested on December 13 following the death of a fan at the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad. The police filed an FIR against him and the theatre management. He was granted bail on December 14 by the Telangana High Court and spent the night at Chanchalguda Central Jail before being released.
After his release, Arjun expressed deep regret for the family involved in the incident. He clarified that he had no direct connection to the tragic event, explaining that he was inside the theatre with his family when the accident occurred outside. He emphasised that it was purely accidental and unintentional, and offered his full support to the family in any way possible.
Arjun mentioned that he has been attending film premieres at the same theatre for the past 20 years and had visited the venue over 30 times without any incident. He described the situation as truly unfortunate and emphasized that it was an accident beyond anyone’s control. He expressed deep regret for what had happened.
