Today marks the centenary birth anniversary of India’s first showman, the legendary Raj Kapoor. Paying tribute to the cinematic icon, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to honor his legacy.
Remembering Raj Kapoor’s genius, Modi wrote, “Today, we mark the 100th birth anniversary of the legendary Raj Kapoor, a visionary filmmaker, actor and the eternal showman! His genius transcended generations, leaving an indelible mark on Indian and global cinema.

The centenary celebrations of the late Indian cinema legend Raj Kapoor in Mumbai were a star-studded affair as an entire galaxy of Hindi cinema stars descended on the Andheri West area on Friday.
The Kapoor family, the first film dynasty of Hindi cinema, hosted the event, celebrating the excellence of the family’s patriarch. Ranbir Kapoor and his wife Alia Bhatt were seen attending the event. Ranbir’s mother Neetu Kapoor and his sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni also joined them.

Saif Ali Khan and his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan were also spotted among the dignitaries. Kareena’s father, Randhir Kapoor, her sister Karisma Kapoor, Navya Naveli Nanda, Aadar Jain, and Alekha Advani were also present at the event.
Other prominent members of the Hindi film fraternity, including Rekha, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Rajkumar Hirani, Karan Johar, Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Anil Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, Kartik Aaryan, Prem Chopra, Sharman Joshi, and Kunal Kapoor, were seen attending the celebration.
Earlier, the Kapoor family had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi to invite him to the 100th birth anniversary celebrations of Raj Kapoor.
