Jaipur: Rajasthan government plans to contact directors of AIIMS Delhi and AIIMS Jodhpur regarding its initiative to establish Rajasthan Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Jaipur. The govt aims to upgrade its RUHS hospital to RIMS status, offering patients facilities comparable to AIIMS institutions.
A delegation will visit both the AIIMS to evaluate their infrastructure. Rajasthan University of Health Sciences (RUHS) has established a committee for this purpose, comprising RUHS principal Dr Vinod Joshi, additional principal Dr Vaseem Naheed Baig, Dr Rashmi Gupta from the medical education department, and Dr Ajit Singh, the additional nodal officer for RIMS.
The committee’s scope includes reviewing the All India Institute of Medical Sciences Act 1956. Additionally, they will examine office memoranda from the health ministry regarding faculty work standards in autonomous medical institutions, issued on Sept 21st and 25th, 2012.
They will also study a Sept 2, 2016 memorandum from AIIMS Delhi concerning junior and senior resident post allocations.
“We will analyse the gaps in infrastructure, healthcare facilities, treatment, and other parameters between existing RUHS facilities and AIIMS, Delhi and AIIMS, Jodhpur. After this analysis, the work for developing facilities at RIMS in the first phase will be done at RUHS hospital,” said Dr Singh, who has been appointed as additional nodal officer, RIMS.
