Ahmedabad: The city crime branch arrested Asif Patel (33) on Saturday, who escaped from the protection of Khokhra Police on Wednesday. The crime branch apprehended Patel from the Chandola Talav area. The accused was arrested following a tip-off and surveillance.
Police registered a case on Wednesday under Section 262 (Resistance or obstruction by a person to his lawful apprehension) against Patel. Patel was taken for investigation in the Kalupur area when he pushed police sub-inspector V C Parmar with his elbow and managed to escape with the handcuffs.
The complaint registered stated that on Nov 6, a case was registered at Khokhra police station for house trespassing and theft in a dwelling house under the BNS sections 331(4) and 305(a). The investigation was conducted by Parmar, and during the investigation, the accused Patel and Atiyar Sheikh (36) were arrested.
The investigation revealed that the duo gave the stolen items to one Ali, who had his shop situated on the fourth floor of Sahajanand Market in Kalupur. On Wednesday at around 11am, Asif was taken to Sahajanand Tower from where he escaped.
