Over 500 MEA-registered recruitment agencies are actively facilitating worker placements in high-demand regions, with Europe and the Middle East drawing increasing interest.
According to India’s National Career Service Portal, data from 2022 to 2024 highlights the UAE as the top foreign employer of Indian workers in infrastructure, tourism, and services, followed by Israel.
Beyond traditional destinations, emerging job markets for Indian professionals include Japan, Germany, Australia, Finland, South Africa, Malaysia, Canada, Turkey, and Gulf nations such as Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Qatar.
The most sought-after sectors for overseas employment span manufacturing, healthcare, IT, construction, hospitality, and logistics.
Global recruiters increasingly prioritise skilled workers over fresh graduates and temporary hires, with contractual roles dominating job vacancies. However, remote work and part-time opportunities remain limited.
A few key recruitment agencies handle the bulk of overseas placements, revealing interesting trends in skill levels and educational qualifications. The demand for semi-skilled labour has surged, particularly for ITI, diploma, and graduate-level professionals.
A substantial share of job openings is available to candidates with 10th and 12th-grade qualifications. Vocational training and ITI certifications have seen a sharp rise in demand in FY 2024-25, particularly for technicians, electricians, and machine operators in manufacturing and construction.
While graduate and postgraduate job opportunities remain available, they are more limited—especially in healthcare, management, and IT. However, diploma holders (both post-10th and post-12th) are increasingly favoured, indicating a shift toward specialised technical expertise over general academic qualifications.
The demand for IT-certified professionals has also been on the rise, further emphasising the growing importance of skill-based employment in the global job market.
