While his job posting came under much criticism, especially for demanding money in exchange for a job, Goyal ended up receiving over 18,000 applications and has successfully made some recruitments.
Now in his latest LinkedIn post, Goyal revealed that Zomato extended job offers to 30 ‘exceptional people,’ out of which 18 have already joined Zomato, Blinkit, and group companies. “They’re being handsomely compensated for the value they bring, and nobody paid anything to work with us,” he specifically mentioned, contrary to the previous requirements in his job posting.
Goyal also mentioned that four of them directly worked with him, whereas four others were in the position of Chief of Staff.
Hiring update on the Chief of Staff –
We started with 18,000+ applications and have had the privilege of meeting over 150 incredibly talented individuals. From this, 30 exceptional people received offers, and 18 have already joined Zomato (and other group companies like Blinkit)… https://t.co/8a6XhgeOGk— Deepinder Goyal (@deepigoyal) February 5, 2025
He explained that the recruited individuals included founders from start-ups, engineers, operators, and even young freshers out of college. Goyal also emphasised their ‘long-term mindset,’ which he described as ‘rare.’
While concluding, the CEO mentioned that the company was still moving through the recruitment drive, looking forward to bringing on more people to join in the future.
The post has sparked another wave of reactions with many praising Zomato for their unique hiring approach. Some even shared their own experiences while applying to the company.
In November 2024, Deepinder Goyal shared a hiring post, stating that he was looking for a Chief of Staff “who is hungry, has a lot of common sense, empathy, and not a lot of experience (and therefore no conditioning/baggage). Is down-to-earth and has zero entitlement. Wants to do the right thing, even if it comes at the cost of displeasing others. Has Grade A communication skills and, most importantly, has a learning mindset.”
