In a continuing investigation into the sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl in Erode, police have arrested a fifth suspect who had been absconding since the incident came to light.
On May 2nd, 21-year-old A. Krishnan allegedly lured a 17-year-old girl he claimed to love to a secluded building and assaulted her. He then called his friends V. Santhosh (25), M. Manikandan (25), and Guhan (23), who also allegedly assaulted her and physically abused her further. Following their arrest, police have now apprehended a fifth suspect on Saturday, Ranjith, from Shastri Nagar in Erode, who had been on the run since the initial arrests. A POCSO case has been filed against him, and he has been remanded to judicial custody.
