Police custody extended for 13 in Siddique murder case

Mumbai: A special court on Monday granted police custody of 13 accused in the Oct 12 murder case of former minister and NCP neta Baba Siddique till Dec 16. The accused, who were already in custody, were produced in court after offences under the stringent MCOCA were invoked against them. The prosecution submitted that absconding gang leader Anmol Bishnoi had sent Rs 40,000 for the murder.
“There are many small links to the case; the chain needs to be connected. Unless all the links are established, the investigation won’t be completed; hence, custody is required,” the prosecution submitted.
The prosecution also submitted that the financial angle related to the crime has to be proved. The gang is operational in UP, Haryana, and Maharashtra. They target these people [accused] and brainwash them. Anmol Bishnoi is trying to establish supremacy as gang leader,” the prosecution submitted. TNN
