MUMBAI: The BMC has imposed a 15% water cut on Saturday and Sunday in areas under its jurisdiction, as well as in areas under the Thane and Bhiwandi Municipal Corporations, which receive water from the BMC.
The cut was necessitated after a transformer at the Pise sub-station malfunctioned around 1 am on Saturday, resulting in the shutdown of six out of the 20 pumps at the BMC’s Pise pumping station.
According to a BMC release, repair work is being carried out on a war footing and will continue through Saturday and Sunday. Citizens have been advised to use water sparingly.
