Prayagraj: To offer better health care facilities to devotees and pilgrims during Maha Kumbh, the mela officials will deploy specialist doctors from AIIMS Rae Bareli and Army Hospital at Parade ground area.
Senior medical officer Dr Gaurav Dubey said that all preparations, including setting up of a 100-bed hospital, are being made to ensure devotees face no difficulties. About 70% of the main hospital is complete, and efforts are ongoing to finish the essential arrangements before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit on Dec 13, said Dubey.
The hospital will operate 24/7 during the Maha Kumbh, offering unlimited OPD services for visitors. Separate wards for men, women, and children are being set up, along with specialized facilities like delivery rooms, emergency wards, and doctors’ rooms. Advanced diagnostic services and immediate medicine distribution will be available to ensure seamless healthcare.
In addition to the main hospital, eight smaller hospitals with 20 beds each are being prepared for pilgrims. Two ICUs with 10 beds each are being constructed by the Army Hospital in mela area and Arail area. Meanwhile, a 25-bed hospital in Jhunsi will include a 10-bed ICU, managed by AIIMS Rae Bareli for round-the-clock care.
