The ‘Spider-Verse’ franchise has been one of the most loved American animated superhero films. It began with ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,’ released in 2018, followed by the sequel ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,’ which came out in 2023. The trilogy’s final chapter is the threequel ‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse,’ which was initially stated to be released in March 2024, but the same was pushed forward. Now that 2024 is not even 15 days from reaching its conclusion, reports have started doing the rounds that even in 2025, the ‘Spider-Verse’ fans will not see the third installment.
According to Deadline, distributors of the movie, Sony have given a disappointing update on the release of the movie. Their report mentions that Sony has no plans to release ‘Beyond the Spider-Verse’ in 2025.
With ‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse,’ Miles Morales’ story will come to an end, and therefore the studio is “taking a lot of tender loving care” to craft the concluding chapter of the trilogy.
Meanwhile, earlier claims were made that fans might have to wait as long as 2027 to see ‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.’ However, Daniel Pemberton put such reports to rest. According to the Sun, the composer said, “Don’t really ever want to weigh in on this sort of stuff BUT would you ever believe there could sometimes be stuff on the internet that might not always be particularly accurate?”
Amid all this, in August 2024, Karan Soni, the voice behind Pavitr Prabhakar, aka Spider-Man India, updated us that the recording of the movie was set to begin soon.
“That movie is deep in production. It’s animation, so it’s different and takes a long time. We’ll see when it’s ready and when it ends up coming out, but I’m really excited,” he told us.
‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse’ cast
Just like the release date, there’s a lot of chatter about the cast of ‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.’ Though no formal confirmation has been made, Shameik Moore and Hailee Steinfeld are expected to return as Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy.
Reportedly, Oscar Isaac will join as Miguel O’Hara (Spider-Man 2099), Issa Rae as Jessica Drew (Spider-Woman) and Daniel Kaluuya as Hobie Brown (Spider-Punk).
On the other hand, Jake Johnson aka Peter B Parker, revealed in January 2024 that he wasn’t sure about his return to the movie.
