In a news that has shocked fans all over the world, actor Allu Arjun was arrested yesterday, in connection with a female fan’s death during the ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ premiere. Even though the actor got bail, he is yet to be released from Jail.

His arrest was sudden, and unexpected, but the actor kept his cool, and kissed his wife goodbye before going into custody. Here’s taking a look at the circumstances that led to the actor being arrested…
December 4 stampede

A 35-year-old woman lost her life due to asphyxiation in a stampede at Sandhya Theatre, Hyderabad, where the actor came to meet his fans for Pushpa 2. Her 13-year-old son sustained grave injuries.
Initial arrests
The police later arrested three individuals, including the owner of Sandhya Theatre, the theatre manager, and the balcony supervisor.
Allu Arjun’s arrest
The actor was arrested on December 13, 2024 in connection to the case, from his home in Hyderabad. He was later sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
What charges were applied against the actor?
Section 105 of the BNS
Section 105 of the BNS concerns ‘culpable homicide not amounting to murder’, which is a serious offence when death results from actions carried out either with the intention to kill or knowing that death could occur. In this case, the failure to manage the crowd properly and take necessary precautions during a public event is seen as a form of negligence under this section. Offenders can face severe penalties, including life imprisonment or a prison term ranging from 5 to 10 years, along with a fine.

Section 118(1) of the BNS
Section 118(1) of the BNS is invoked when a person intentionally causes harm to another using dangerous tools or methods. While this section typically addresses physical injuries, it has been cited here due to the dangerous nature of the crowd and the lack of adequate control measures.
