Ahmedabad: CCTV cameras will soon be installed at all civic centres managed by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. The aim is to prevent potential misconduct as citizens come to pay property tax and other taxes in these centres.
The decision was taken at a standing committee meeting held on Thursday.
Standing committee chairman Devang Dani said, “The AMC has given in-principle approval for the construction of an amusement park in the Lambha Lake area. Additionally, a decision was made to develop the Ellisbridge crematorium in the city on a PPP basis. Other crematoriums in the city will be developed based on this model.”
In another order, the committee ordered the inspection of all electronic items in all its buildings two days after a young man was injured when a fan fell on him at the Ghatlodia library. The blade of the fan nicked Priyanshu Kushwaha above the eye. The 23-year-old received over 10 stitches for the gash.
The committee also issued an order to demolish illegal constructions in the Walled City. As Dec 25 marks the birthday of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, it was decided to celebrate the last week of Dec as Good Governance Week.
