Pop sensation Dua Lipa set the stage on fire yesterday (November 30) in Mumbai with her much-awaited music concert. The internet was abuzz with her video singing a fan-made mashup of her track ‘Levitating’ and the Hindi song ‘Woh Ladki Jo‘ from Shah Rukh Khan‘s starrer ‘Baadshah’.
However, singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya, the original singer of the Hindi song, reacted to the clip, expressing disappointment over the lack of credit given to the real talent behind ‘Woh Ladki Jo’ during the online celebrations.
Abhijeet Bhattacharya shared the clip on his Instagram Stories, emphasising that the song’s magic wasn’t about Shah Rukh Khan but stemmed from the soulful rendition of the singers, which made it timeless. He expressed discomfort over the lack of acknowledgement for the singers, specifically Anu Malik and himself.

He wrote, “The song is a hit and popular because of legends like Abhijeet and Anu Malik!”
He further added a lengthy note, “The problem is that no one talks about it. What happened to ‘Woh Ladki Jo’ by Abhijeet? Unfortunately, we live in a country where not a single news outlet or Instagram page has mentioned the voice and the artists behind this song. Why is it always about actors in this country? I’m sure when @dualipa heard this song, she must have appreciated it for its music and not just for its visuals. And yes, it is not SRK. It is @abhijeetbhattacharya and @anumalikmusic. I’m sorry, but this song is called ‘Woh Ladki Jo sabse alag hai’ – Abhijeet, wherever you search for it. Somehow, the media in this country never gives singers their due, and then people ask me why I don’t try to sing for Bollywood anymore.”

He added, “This is not about Shah Rukh Khan—I’m his biggest fan. This is about our audience and our media, who don’t support the singers of our country the way they do in the West.”
Prominent attendees at the concert included Anant Ambani’s wife Radhika Merchant, Isha Ambani’s husband Anand Piramal, Ranvir Shorey, and Namrata Shirodkar, among others.
